Key Focus Areas

Measure A is a $12.7 million general obligation bond measure for the Black Oak Mine Unified School District (BOMUSD) in El Dorado County, California, which was approved by voters on November 5, 2024.

Phase 1 Projects

Here are a few projects included in phase 1 of the bond:

Playground Replacement

Georgetown, Northside and Otter Creek Schools received new playgrounds to ensure student safety, accessibility, and long-term facility sustainability.

Golden Sierra Track & Field

Upgrading the synthetic turf and installing a 6 lane all-weather track provides year round access for our students and community.

HVAC Installation

Installing modern heating and air conditioning provides for year-round comfort and usability of the MP rooms at Georgetown and Northside Schools.

  • Bond funds are dedicated to long-term facility improvements and cannot be used for salaries or daily operating expenses.

  • Measure A‘s estimated average annual tax rate is less than $40 per $100,000 of assessed valuation for 15 years. Assessed valuation should not be confused with market value. The assessed valuation is the value placed on property by El Dorado County and is typically lower than market value.

  • Updates will be shared through district communications and public reports.

  • District leaders, staff, and community members worked together to evaluate the current state of district facilities, examine existing challenges, analyze future enrollment projections, and assess long-term facility needs.

  • An Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC), made up of local community members, business leaders, and taxpayer representatives, is established to monitor bond expenditures, review annual audits, and ensure funds are spent strictly according to voter-approved projects. The committee meets several times a year. These meetings are posted on the District website and are open to the public.
