What Makes Us Different

Credit Recovery ProgramTop of Page

Divide High is an alternative high school designed for credit recovery.  One of the alternative aspects of Divide High School is the way in which credits may be earned.  At Divide, twelve hours (called "points") of credit are equivalent to one high school credit.  Credit may be earned in the following ways:

Class productivity:  Students may earn variable points for class participation depending upon the quality and quantity of work completed.

Homework:  Students may do homework and turn it in for points.  Credit is generally earned at the rate of one point for each hour of homework; teachers retain the option, however, of awarding blocks of credit for various projects.

Independent Study/Projects:  Many students develop independent study contracts with their teacher.  This option allows students to take classes that are not otherwise offered or that are not offered during the same hours that the student attends school.

CurriculumTop of Page

Courses offered include math, world history, U.S. history, English, vocational education, life/physical science, civics, economics and physical education.  For 2013-14 our focus will be on math and language arts.  We have also added a computer class to the schedule to strengthen our vocational program.  In addition, eligible students may take ROP classes on the Golden Sierra High School Campus if they can provide their own transportation.
