Voters elect 5 members to the Black Oak Mine Unified School District Board of Trustees, each serving a 4-year term. The role of the Board is to provide leadership and citizen oversight of the district's schools, including setting a direction for the district, providing a basic organizational structure by establishing policies, ensuring accountability, and providing community leadership on behalf of the district and public education.  Duties include, but may not be limited to, adopting a budget, approving expenditures, authorizing the hiring of personnel, approving courses of study and instructional material, and providing direction on issues and ideas presented.
