New Immunization Requirement for 7th through 12th Grade Students

for the 2011-12 School Year

Since pertussis (whooping cough) is widespread in California, the legislature passed a new law, Assembly Bill 354.  The law requires that all students entering 7ththrough 12thgrades need proof of a Tdap (Tetanis toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis vaccine) booster shot before they will be allowed to start school for the 2011-12 school year.

Go here for important information on the new lawWhat Parents Need to Know/Frequently Asked Questions

If your child is 10 years old or older and has not yet received the Tdap booster shot, please contact your doctor or the health department (621-6100) for an appointment as soon as possible.  Be sure to bring in the updated immunization record to the school office, so a copy can be made and your child cleared of this requirement.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
